Ganeshmurthy's family members said that Ganeshmurthy's condition deteriorated this morning. He started vomiting. He said that he had consumed insecticide. He was immediately admitted to a private hospital in Erode. After first treatment, he has been admitted to a private hospital in Coimbatore. Hospital sources said that his condition is critical.

MDMK's general secretary Vaiko went to the hospital on Sunday night and met the Ganesha idol. Speaking to the media after this, he said that our workers from Erode constituency suggested the name of Durai Vaiko for the Lok Sabha elections. But I did not agree to it immediately. We took a poll. 99% workers voted in favor of Durai Vaiko. That's why I thought of his name. After this Ganeshmurthy took an extreme step.
Ganeshmurthy was elected as MP three times and has also served as an MLA.
