Who is Amrita Roy?
Rajmata Amrita Roy will contest from Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency from BJP. Krishnanagar city has a rich cultural and artistic heritage. Born in the 18th century, Krishnachandra was known as a visionary king. During his 55 years of rule, his administrative and social reforms, promotion of arts contributed greatly to the development of the state. Amrita Roy is the wife of Soumish Chandra Roy, the 39th descendant of the Nadia Raj dynasty of Maharaja Rudra Chandra Roy and Krishna Chandra Roy. Soumish Chandra Roy is a retired airline employee. So his son Manish advocate in Calcutta High Court. Amrita studied law at La Martiniere School and Loreto College and is a fashion consultant by profession. None of the three members of his family had any previous connection with politics. But, she says that my family supported me in my decision to join politics. Mahua Moitra will face a big challenge
Amrita Roy, who is the daughter-in-law of this family, has been nominated by the BJP. Due to this, political analysts believe that Mahua Moitra of Trinamool Congress will face a big challenge. Mahua Moitra won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Krishnanagar constituency by securing 6,14,872 votes. BJP's Kalyan Choubey got 5,51,654 votes this time. He got huge votes from all three Vidhan Sabhas namely Chopra, Palashipara and Kaliganj. But in the last five years, BJP has increased its public relations in Kaliganj Assembly. So it is believed that Amrita Roy will benefit from this.
'Cash for query' issue will hit Trinamool?
Nishikant Dubey had accused Mahua Moitra of taking bribe from real estate businessman Hiranandani to ask questions in Parliament. On October 14, 2023, lawyer Jai Anand Dehadrai filed a complaint in the Supreme Court that Mahua Moitra had asked money questions in Parliament ('cash for query'). The Ethics Committee of the Parliament conducted an inquiry in this matter. The report was submitted to the Lok Sabha Speaker. Mahua's membership of Parliament was revoked on 8 December 2023. Now it is also becoming possible that this whole issue will affect the Trinamool vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
