Leader Online Desk: In the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, voting will be held on April 19 in Cooch Behar, West Bengal. The Election Commission has advised that the Governor of West Bengal should not visit Cooch Behar on this day, reports 'PTI'.
West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has been advised by the Election Commission to cancel his visit to Cooch Behar on April 18 and 19. Voting will be held in this constituency on April 19 in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission has stated that the proposed tour is in violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
Under the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), no local program can be organized as proposed in the program issued by the Governor. The commission has also mentioned that the entire district administration and police force will be engaged in election management between April 18 and 19. Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress had earlier complained to the Election Commission against the governor for 'illegal interference' in the upcoming elections.
