Regarding this Times of IndiaAccording to a report by , the Election Commission has included rental charges for microphones, loudspeakers, vehicles, banners, chairs and other equipment in the list of campaign equipment items. Also there are different rates for vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals, breakfast and snacks. Biscuits and water bottles are priced as per their Maximum Retail Price (MRP). The Commission has also clarified that the rate should be the same for Kachori Rs 15, Sandwich Rs 25 and Jalebi Rs 90 per kg.
Fixed daily vehicle rental rates
The daily rental rates of the vehicles have been fixed. Rs 300 for a two-wheeler, Rs 600 for an e-rickshaw, Rs 3,000 for SUVs like Tata Safari and Honda City, Rs 3,200 for big SUVs like Toyota Innova, Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero. The Election Commission has also clarified that the rate should be Rs 850 per day for auto rickshaws and Rs 1,350 per day for autos with loudspeakers.
Consultation with experts to prepare a list of 200 promotional items
The Election Commission consulted experts to prepare a list of 200 campaign items, including food tariffs of the Food Security Department and other tariffs of related departments. Candidates must seek permission from the Election Department before organizing any event. Candidates have complied with expenditure limits. To ensure this, a team is sent to record departmental programs and analyze costs. Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India is closely monitoring the SMS and voice call campaigns of political parties. Prior approval from the Monitoring Committee is required for these campaigns. The Commission is also working with telecom companies to trace the campaign expenditure to ensure that the election expenditure limit is not exceeded.
