During the campaign, he asked a fortune teller on the road with the help of a parrot as to who would win the election. Selvaraj, a soothsayer with the help of a parrot, answered it. Selvaraj said that Thangar Bachchan would win the election as the parrot picked a card for him, which had the image of Lord Azhagumuthu Ayyanar on it. Thangar's workers shot a video of the incident. It went viral on social media in the constituency. Finally, the district forest department took notice of this.

Two detained for keeping parrot in captivity

After the video went viral, the forest department took notice of it. The Cuddalore district forest department on Tuesday arrested parrot fortune teller Selvaraj for keeping the parrot in captivity. Cuddalore District Forest Officer J Ramesh said parrots are classified as Schedule II species under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and it is an offense to keep the birds in captivity. Fortune teller Selvaraj and his brother Srinivasan were detained at Panrutti for keeping a parrot in a cage. He was later released with a warning. The forest department has also clarified that they will be fined up to ten thousand rupees.

PMK Chief Ambumani Condemns DMK Govt

Pattali Makkal Kachi party president Anbumani Ramdas has condemned the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu regarding this action. DMK cannot digest that PMK candidate will win Cuddalore Lok Sabha constituency. This act shows the authoritarianism of the state government. It should be condemned. This action made the DMK fear defeat. The DMK, which claims to be a rational party, does not even tolerate the predictions of fortune-tellers with the help of parrots. This action has also exposed how stupid and superstitious the party has sunk into,” said Anbumani in his post on X.
