Lok Sabha Election 2024: BJP's victory! 'Surat Lok Sabha' won unopposed

Leader Online Desk : Lok Sabha Election 2024 : Lok Sabha election results will be announced on June 4. But the account of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already been opened and the victory of BJP candidate in one seat in Surat, Gujarat has been confirmed. With the cancellation of the Congress candidate's application and the withdrawal of all the other 8 independent candidates, the BJP has paved the way for an unopposed victory. As BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal is now the only candidate for this seat, his victory is yet to be formally announced.

Gujarat BJP president CR Patil on Monday congratulated Dalal on his victory on social media. Patil shared a post on X with pictures of Mukesh Dalal. In which it is said that, 'Surat gave Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi his first victory! Congratulations and best wishes to Surat Lok Sabha Constituency candidate Mukeshbhai Dalal for his unopposed election!'

Application withdrawal drama

In Surat, seven independent candidates withdrew their nomination papers on the last day of withdrawal of nomination papers after Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani and his dummy candidate were cancelled. This paved the way for BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal to win unopposed. Only Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Pyarelal Bharatiya had not withdrawn his candidature till late afternoon. Therefore, Pyare Lal Bharti was being sought by both BJP and Congress parties. But after two in the afternoon, Bharti reached the collector's office and withdrew her candidature. Which sealed Dalal's unopposed election. On the other hand, Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani has approached the High Court due to cancellation of his candidature. Darshana Zardosh is currently the Member of Parliament from Surat. He is also holding the post of Minister of State for Railways in that Centre.
