Dehradun; News Agency: Chardham Yatra is starting from May 10 in Uttarakhand. So far over 19 lakh devotees have registered. Last year a record 55 lakh people came for this pilgrimage. As a result, the system often collapsed. The Uttarakhand Police and Tourism Department have learned a lesson from this and this year for the first time have limited the number of devotees coming to Chardham Yatra every day.
According to the information given by Tourism Secretary Sachin Kurve, 15 thousand devotees can visit Kedarnath Dham in a day. 16 thousand people can visit Badrinath Dham and 9 thousand devotees can visit Yamunotri and 11 thousand devotees can visit Gangotri. In this way 51 thousand people will be able to visit Chardham every day. Last year more than 60 thousand devotees came for darshan every day. After Rishikesh, if anyone wants to go to Badrinath, they will be stopped in Srinagar first. After the daily limit of 15 thousand, the rest of the devotees will have to spend the night here. The next day the same procedure will be done in Rudraprayag, followed by Chamoli, Pipalkoti and Joshimath. You can proceed only after getting the number. Devotees of Kedarnath Dham will also be taken forward only after stopping at Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Ukhimath, Gaurikund. Devotees going to Gangotri-Yamunotri will be halted at Tehri, Chamba, Uttarkashi. These cities can accommodate 20 to 30 thousand people at a time. Chardham Hotel Association has opposed this decision. The association has predicted that this will reduce the business.
