Dubai, News Agency: Three Indians, four Egyptians and one Kuwaiti national have been arrested by the police in connection with the recent fire in a building in Kuwait. A total of 50 people died in the fire that broke out in the six-storey building in the early hours of June 12. This included 45 Indians.
A compensation of Rs 1.25 lakh each will be given to the families of the victims, announced the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The compensation will be paid to the foreign workers' embassies and from there they will reach their families. There were 196 workers living in the building that caught fire. Most of them were Indians. Eight were sent to two weeks' police custody. A case has been registered against them on charges of negligence, murder.
