Leader Online Desk : Former West Indies cricketer and Indian Premier League (IPL) all-rounder Sunil Narine has created a new record to his name. Has become the fifth highest wicket-taker in the IPL. He achieved this feat in KKR's match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Eden Gardens on Friday, April 26. Narine gave away 24 runs in four overs. Sunil Narine has so far taken 173 wickets in the IPL in 170 matches and 169 innings at an economy rate of 6.74. Team India's spinner Ashwin has taken 172 wickets by playing in 204 matches and 201 innings.

Yuzvendra Chahal is the highest wicket taker in IPL. In 153 matches, Chahal has taken 200 wickets at an average of 21.37, with a best figure of 5 for 40 runs. He has taken four wickets and five wickets six times in his IPL career so far.
Punjab vs KKR match recorded many incidents
The match between PBKS and KKR took place on Friday. Punjab won the toss and elected Kolkata to bat first. Sunil Narine (71) and Philip Salt (75) then delighted the Eden Gardens crowd with a strong batting display as the Punjab Kings (PBKS) bowlers took KKR to 261/6 in 20 overs.
Arshdeep Singh led the PBKS bowling unit with two wickets.
In the run chase, Jonny Bairstow (108) and Shashank Singh (68) chased down the big target with an unbeaten innings.
Narine took the lone wicket for KKR. Out of eight matches, KKR have registered five wins, collecting 10 points in the IPL 2024 standings, which sees the team at the second position in the points table. Meanwhile, Punjab are eighth with six points after winning three out of nine games. (ANI)
