'Missing Ladies' fame director Kiran Rao talked about her ex-husband Aamir Khan in an interview. Kiran said that she and Aamir took a lot of time before getting divorced but now they are very happy with their decision.
Kiran also said that she got the support of her and Aamir's family on this decision. Kiran calls it an amicable divorce.

Talking about her divorce on Faye D'Souza's show, Kiran said, 'I think relationships need to be redefined from time to time because as we grow up we change. We need different things.
Similarly, I felt that this divorce will make me happy and believe me, I am very happy with it. It is a very happy divorce.
Even after divorce, the couple continues to co-parent their 12-year-old son Azad.
'Because of Azad I did not feel lonely
Kiran further said, 'I was single for a long time before Aamir came. I used to enjoy my freedom. Although I used to feel lonely even before, but now I don't feel like that because of my son Azad.
I think when people think about divorce, they are worried about loneliness but I did not feel lonely at all. I got the support of my family as well as Aamir's family.
Kiran also has a very good bonding with Aamir's first wife Reena and their children Aira and Junaid.
We will still be there for each other after the divorce
Kiran also said that it was not easy for Aamir and her to end their 15-year relationship. Both of them were very emotional about it. We wanted to secure that despite the divorce, we will not go away from each other. We will be there for each other.
Aamir had produced Kiran's recently released film 'Lapata Ladies'.
Aamir-Kiran's relationship lasted for 16 years
Aamir and Kiran met 24 years ago during the shooting of the film 'Lagaan'. Kiran was the assistant director of this film. Both of them got married in December 2005. After 16 years, the couple confirmed their divorce in July 2021.
