New Delhi, Leading News Service: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approached the Supreme Court seeking an extension of 7 days in interim bail. The petition said that Kejriwal wanted an extension of seven days for the medical tests citing health reasons.
Why does Arvind Kejriwal need bail extension?
- An extension of seven days is required for medical tests
- Weight has been lost and ketone levels have increased dramatically.
- Some medical tests including 'PAT-CT scan' are required
Arvind Kejriwal was granted interim bail for 21 days by the Supreme Court on May 10 to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. In the last phase, voting will be held on June 1. Kejriwal will have to return to Tihar Jail on June 2 as soon as the polls are held.
Since the bail expires on June 1, Kejriwal has given the reason of health to get it extended. I have lost weight and ketone levels have increased dramatically. Therefore, the petition has sought an extension of seven days in the interim bail for conducting some medical tests including 'PAT-CT scan'.
BJP has attacked that Kejriwal's demand to increase the interim bail citing health reasons is a 'drama'. Kejriwal did not face any problem during the election campaign. However, when it is time to go back to the jail, he is seriously ill. Instead of campaigning in Punjab, they should undergo medical check-ups,” suggested Delhi BJP state president Virendra Sachdeva.
