Leaders Online Desk: A Kashmiri leader raised the issue of Pakistan's Shia Muslim minority at the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The name of this Kashmiri leader who expressed his opinion in this meeting held in Geneva in Switzerland is Javed Baig. Baig highlighted the dire situation faced by the Shia Pashtun tribals of Parachinar in Pakistan's Kurram district, located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
In one of Baig's posts on X, he shared part of a question he posed to the UNHRC. It contains a video of the question being asked. This, he said, highlights the serious violation of human rights of Shia Muslims in Pakistan. He strongly raised the issue of the plight of the Pashtun Shia people of Parachinar, located in the Kurram district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. But while saying this, he has also highlighted that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is different from the current situation in Pakistan. But there is no mention of progress and interfaith reconciliation in Jammu and Kashmir. However, by mentioning 'Bhet Bhoomi' in this, many people have argued that Pakistan is being compared with Jammu and Kashmir.
Baig says, “Today, Shia Muslims in Pakistan's Punjab are caught up in violence due to ever-increasing religious fundamentalism. This includes anti-Shia religious organizations.
