Actor Karan Veer Mehra has won the title of 'Khatron Ke Khiladi 14'. During an exclusive conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, the actor opened up about his experience on the show, the difficult stunts and the challenges he faced.
During the conversation, he also expressed his opinion on the 'Bigg Boss' offer. Read key excerpts from the conversation:
How do you feel after becoming the winner of the show? Which stunt in the show was the most challenging for you?
Looks very nice. Still not completely convinced. Right now I just feel that yes, it has happened… it has happened… but I am not completely sure.
The current stunt was the most challenging. I already had a plate in my leg due to an accident, so I was feeling even more scared. People come to Khatron Ke Khiladi to vent their fears, and I brought an extra fear.
Has there ever been a moment when you felt that this cannot happen anymore, it is difficult to move forward?
No, that never happened. I always had this feeling that either I would do it, or I would die. I never thought of giving up. With each step I pushed myself and kept moving forward.
What has changed in your career after the show? What kind of projects would you like to do next?
To be honest, I have no expectations. Since childhood, my only goal has been to do good work, that's all. The good thing is that now I have more choices. Earlier there was less choice, now there is more choice. But my agenda has always been the same – to work with people who want to tell good stories and whose motive is not just to make money.
Like just look at this show, it was a flagship show, a very big show. I believe that shows like this create the identity of the channel. It was made to do something different. So I want to be a part of such projects where there is a good story, good people and hard work. Be it films, OTT, TV, or reality shows, I just want to do good work.
Have you thought about what you would like to do with your winnings?
First of all, I will clear my outstanding bills (laughs) My car has also become old, maybe I should buy a new car, but I have got a car in the show, so now I am confused as to what to do?
Have you ever faced a financial crunch in your career when you had to think about meeting basic needs?
No, by God's grace such a time never came. I have been working for the last 20 years and I have always taken care of myself. Even though we come from a simple background, I never thought about whether I want a big car or a big house. Started with theatre, and remained satisfied with whatever I got.
How was the experience of working with Rohit Shetty?
It was a great experience. I had said earlier also that I had a 'man crush' on him. He is a very down to earth person and whenever he spoke something, it seemed as if there was some magic in his voice which charged us from within. No matter who the contestant was, if he was on the verge of giving up, Rohit sir's voice would get him excited again.
If I ever get a chance, I would definitely like to work with him in a film, but till now no such opportunity has come. I didn't go and tell him anything myself, but I am sure that if he liked my work, he would definitely remember me.
Will you be a part of 'Bigg Boss' this year?
Approach happens every year, but this time we don't know what will happen. Look, this is a show for which you cannot make any preparation. This completely depends on your personality. If you win, I think the braking from your parents and teachers helps. And if you lose, then what matters is how many friends you made and how you survived the show because of them. I also feel that this is a very personality-based show. I've only watched a couple of seasons so far, so I don't fully understand what happens in the show.
Why don't you participate in this show despite being approached every year?
Out of fear I ask for more money, then they say – leave from here brother. (Laughs) The second thing is that I don't know whether I will be able to survive in the show without my family or not. Nowadays we are all so connected to each other that it is difficult to stay away from family. My mother is in Delhi, sister in Canada, I am in Mumbai and we all have lunch or dinner together over video call every day. The house of 'Bigg Boss' is exactly the opposite – there is no family there and there is no space available.
