Kapil Dev: Action on Iyer-Kishan right, welcome BCCI's decision: Kapil Dev | leader

Leaders Online Desk: India's former world-winning captain Kapil Dev has jumped into the BCCI's new central contract controversy. He has welcomed the board's decision to leave Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan out of the contract. If some players are suffering, so be it. Nothing is more important than country. This step of BCCI is necessary to maintain the importance of domestic cricket, Kapil Dev has pierced the ears of young players.

BCCI surprised everyone by announcing its annual Central Contract List recently. The board let Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer out of the deal, who had neglected domestic cricket. After that, this harsh decision of BCCI became a topic of discussion. Some former players reacted to the move. Former Indian captain Kapil Dev also expressed his opinion on the issue while talking to PTI news agency.

'Congratulations BCCI'

Kapil Dev said, 'I feel sad that players are leaving domestic cricket after establishing themselves in international cricket. The BCCI had urged such players to play for their respective state teams, giving importance to domestic competitions. But some ignored the board's instructions. Finally BCCI had to take a concrete decision, which they did. Some players will suffer after the new decision on their annual central contract. Even if it happens, it will work. Because no one is bigger than the country. I congratulate the BCCI for taking this step to protect domestic cricket.'

'Opportunity to Payback'

“I have always believed in the process of international players making themselves available for their respective state teams. Playing domestic cricket is the responsibility of established star players. Other players benefit from the guidance of such players. Moreover, it is also a good way to repay the services rendered by the State Union at times,' said Kapil Dev.

Thanks to BCCI for increasing the pension

BCCI has increased the pension of former cricketers. Kapil Dev has thanked the board for this decision. “I am happy that BCCI has increased the amount of pension for ex-players. This decision of the board will be beneficial for those whose families are dependent on pension,' he has expressed.
