An old statement of Kangana Ranaut, who has been in the news due to the growing demand to ban the film Emergency, has surfaced, in which she had called herself a drug addict. However, when she was recently asked about this addiction, Kangana Ranaut denied it. She clearly said that I never said that I am a drug addict. Further, when she was shown her own statement, she said that she used drugs for method acting. Kangana believes that instead of focusing on drug addiction, one should learn from the fact that despite getting money at a young age, she did not become an item girl or a high society prostitute.

In an interview given to Filmfare in October 2013, Kangana Ranaut had said, when I was 17 years old, I jumped into a rave party to know what happens there. After this, Kangana said in an interview given to Hindustan Times in September 2020, as soon as I ran away from my house, in a few years I became a film star and then became a drug addict.

These statements of Kangana were mentioned in her interview to Lallantop. However, Kangana clearly denied drug addiction. She denied saying, I would never have called myself a drug addict.

When she was told that she herself had given these statements, the actress clarified, see, what happens is, when you are in your family, you are in a very protective environment. Family protects you. But when you become completely free, you start exploring the world. We try to understand what is the matter. If you are free spirited, then you go to every place that is alarming, breathtaking, which has curiosity, darkness, beauty. You keep getting drawn to such places.

I was an alcoholic in Gangster, a bipolar schizophrenic in Woh Lamhe, a cocaine addict in Fashion. I had a phase where I was doing all these things as a method actor. You are so youthful that you don't judge anyone.

Kangana further said, we are open minded, if someone drinks tea or cigarette in front of us, we ask to show what is this. Today if you think that I Kangana, the way I am, the way I believe, can I get that success or that breakthrough? I will not get it, because now I do not have that quality. The innocence that a 15 year old child has, I do not have that now. Will I go into a dark room now where something wrong can happen, I will not go. Now I am very wise, now I know that it is a rave party, now I will not go there. But I would go then, that is why I became Kangana Ranaut. I am not afraid.

Kangana has told in the interview that in the film Fashion, she played the role of a girl who was a drug addict and was found lying on the streets. To know that character and to understand her state of mind, she took drugs. She further said that she did not experiment with any kind of drug, she met some people with whose help she did research.

Kangana further said, why are you saying that you took drugs. Why don't you say that a 15-year-old girl leaves the house alone. She has money, luxury, everything, but she did not become an alcoholic, an item girl, a high society prostitute, she did not become the girl the world wanted her to be. You should focus on that. You should tell that to the youth. You should show people an example that a teenage girl without parents had money, but she did not do anything wrong.

Let us tell you that Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency is scheduled to be released on 6 September. However, there is a demand to ban the film on the charges of misrepresenting the Sikh community in the film. Recently, Kangana has told through social media that her film was passed by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification), however, after receiving threats to the people associated with it, the film has now been refused a certificate.
