JP Nadda : Nadda resigned from Rajya Sabha, will contest Lok Sabha elections? | leader









New Delhi, Leading News Service: BJP National President JP Nadda has resigned from the Rajya Sabha. It is believed that Nadda will contest the Lok Sabha elections. Nadda's tenure will end on April 2. He is currently a member of the Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh. After being elected to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat, he is yet to take oath. So his choice of Gujarat will still remain intact.

JP Nadda was elected unopposed as Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat 13 days ago on 20 February. Sources say that Nadda has resigned from the Rajya Sabha to contest the Lok Sabha elections. It has not yet been announced from which seat he will contest.

Nadda started student politics by joining ABVP in 1978. After this he was the National President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha between 1991 and 1994. His wife Mallika Nadda was also the National General Secretary of ABVP from 1988 to 1999. Before becoming a minister in the Modi government in 2014, he was the party's national general secretary when Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh were presidents. BJP sent him to Rajya Sabha in 2012 and 2018. He was appointed as the President of Bharatiya Janata Party on 20 January 2020. Jagat Prakash Nadda's term has been extended till 2024 in September 2022.
