Leader Online Desk : Ishan Kishan : Mumbai Indians defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets in the 25th match of IPL 2024. Ishan scored 69 runs off 34 balls and played an important role in helping Mumbai overcome the challenge of 197 runs. Speaking to the media after the match, Ishan reacted to the controversy against BCCI that took place a few weeks before the start of the IPL. Actually, Ishan was dropped from the central contract by the BCCI. He also did not play the Ranji Trophy despite BCCI's warning. In such a situation, his future in the Indian team was questioned.

When asked about this, Ishaan said, 'When I took some time for myself from the game, people were talking a lot. I was criticized on social media. But one has to understand that many things are not in the hands of the players. But I continued to practice. As IPL is currently playing, I am thinking about one match at a time. This is a big competition and you don't want to overstep it. My goal is to play useful innings for the Mumbai Indians team.'

During the break there was a big change in my mindset. Attitude towards sports changed. Learned how to handle situations when things go wrong in career. Ishaan also revealed on this occasion that he learned lessons about proper use of time.

What exactly is the Ishan vs BCCI controversy?

Earlier this year, Ishan abruptly withdrew from the South Africa series. He directly returned to India. It was revealed that mental fatigue was the reason behind this. After this, he did not declare himself available for the T20I series against Afghanistan or the Test series against England. In such a situation, the head coach Rahul Dravid and the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jai Shah advised Ishan to play the Ranji Trophy to return to the Indian team. However, Ishan ignored the advice and decided to prepare for the IPL with captain Hardik Pandya. The BCCI then dropped Ishaan and Shreyas Iyer from the BCCI annual contract.
