Leader Online Desk : The second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) competition took place today (March 23) between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavinder Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh. Punjab won by four wickets at their home ground. Batting first after losing the toss, Delhi scored 174 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Punjab reached the target for the loss of six wickets in 19.2 overs. Punjab has started the 17th season of IPL with a win. Punjab won the toss. Decided to bowl first. Batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 174 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Prabhishek Porel conceded 25 runs in Harshal Patel's 20th over. He scored an unbeaten 32 off 10 balls with four fours and two sixes. Porel hit three fours and two sixes in the 20th over. Kuldeep was run out for two runs off the last ball. By the 19th over, Delhi's score was 149 for eight and Porel's explosive batting led the team to 174.

IPL 2024 PBKS vs DC : Cautious start for Punjab
Chasing 174 runs, Punjab Kings suffered their first shock at 34 runs in the fourth over. Ishant Sharma clean bowled Shikhar Dhawan on the first ball of the fourth over of the innings. Dhawan scored 22 runs in 16 balls with the help of 4 fours. After this, on the fifth ball, Prabhasimran played a straight shot that hit Ishant's fingers and hit the wicket at the non-striker's end. Bairstow was then run out when he was outside the crease. Bairstow was dismissed for nine runs off three balls. Ended in the Powerplay (first six overs of the innings). Punjab scored 60 runs for the loss of two wickets.

Mitchell Marsh in the 15th over tilts the match for Punjab. Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone combined for 18 runs. Sam Karan scored the fourth fifty of his IPL career. He completed his half century in 39 balls. His innings of 63 runs was decisive. In the 19th over, Punjab suffered two setbacks in a row. Liam Livingstone ended the match with a six off the second ball of the last over. He scored an unbeaten 38 off 21 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes.
