IND vs ENG Test: Team India in a strong position in the fifth Test; A lead of 255 runs | leader

In the first session on Friday, India scored 139 runs without losing a wicket in 30 overs. After this, in the second session (till tea), India lost 2 wickets in 24 overs and scored 112 runs at a rate of 4.67. On Thursday Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 57 runs. India started the second day at 135 for one wicket and added 338 runs after the day's play. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored centuries. The duo put on a 171-run partnership for the second wicket to take India past 250 runs. Rohit scored his 18th Test century and Shubman his fourth century. It was the second century of both in this series. This partnership was broken by Ben Stokes. Stokes, who came to bowl after nine months, bowled for the first time in this series and clean bowled Rohit on the very first ball. Rohit scored 103 runs off 162 balls with the help of 13 fours and three sixes. After this, James Anderson clean bowled Shubman Gill. Gill managed to score 110 runs in 150 balls with the help of 12 fours and five sixes.

Sarfraz-Padikkal's 97-run partnership

After this, Sarfraz Khan and debutant Devdutt Padikkal put on a 97-run partnership for the fourth wicket. After the T-break, England's Bashir bowled aggressively and dismissed Sarfraz. At one point, India's score was 376 for three wickets. After this, the team lost five wickets while making the next 52 runs.

Padikkal completed his half-century after Sarfraz was dismissed. He was dismissed for 65 runs with the help of 10 fours and 1 six. Then Dhruv Jurel was also dismissed after scoring 15 runs. After losing five wickets for 52 runs, Kuldeep and Bumrah put on an unbeaten partnership of 45 runs to take the lead past 250.

England's first innings ended on 218 runs

Earlier, England's first innings ended on 218 runs. In this, Kuldeep Yadav took five wickets. At the same time, Ravichandran Ashwin took four wickets in his 100th Test. Duckett could score 27 runs in batting. Crowley scored 79 runs off 108 balls with the help of 11 fours and 1 six. Joe Root was dismissed for 26 runs, while Jonny Bairstow, who played his 100th Test, was dismissed for 29 runs. Kuldeep didn't even allow captain Ben Stokes to open the account. With England on 175 runs, the team lost the wickets of Bairstow, Root and Stokes. Ashwin sent Hartley (6) and Wood (0) to the pavilion in the 50th over of the innings. After this, Anderson (0) was sent to the pavilion and England's innings ended on 218 runs. Bashir remained unbeaten with 11 runs.
