Leaders Online Desk : IND vs AUS Test Series : The Border-Gavaskar Test series between India and Australia to be played in late 2024 has undergone major changes. Both the teams will now play five Test matches instead of four. Cricket Australia announced this through X Post on Monday. It has also been clarified that for the first time since 1991-92, there will be a series of five Test matches between the two countries and the schedule will be announced in the coming days.
After the information was released on Cricket Australia's social media, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said, 'BCCI is always committed to carry forward the legacy of Test cricket. There has always been respect for this long format of cricket. So the cricket boards of India and Australia tried to organize a five-match series, which was successful. This action demonstrates the collective commitment of both boards to promote the importance of Test cricket.' Cricket Australia president Mike Byrd said the five-match series between India and Australia is also very important from the point of view of the World Test Championship. Given the fierce rivalry between the two teams, we are delighted to extend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to a five-match series.'
