Film director Imtiaz Ali has said that he cast Diljit Dosanjh in the film 'Amar Singh Chamkila' because he wanted to save money. In the behind the scene video, apart from Imtiaz, Diljit Dosanjh, Parineeti Chopra also shared their experiences of working in the film.
First of all, Imtiaz said, 'In this film we were not hiring one actor for one work. I was saving my money in casting by casting actor and singer Diljit. The thrill of the film is its music.
Imtiaz Ali also told how he made live singing possible for Diljit and Parineeti in the film. He said, 'We had made a whole band for him so he was actually singing live which we brought to life on-screen. We called background musicians with whom Diljit and Parineeti sang songs for three-four days and during this time some things were recorded live.

Felt like Chamkila was around us: Diljit Dosanjh
On playing the character of Amar Singh Chamkila in the film, Diljit said, 'The story of the film revolves around music and music is God for me. Through this film, I came closer to God. I always felt that Chamkila was present around us on the set.
Live singing was challenging: Parineeti
On playing the character of Amarjot, wife of Amar Singh Chamkila, Parineeti said that the experience of singing live for the film was very different. It was on a very high scale and singing and acting on that scale was a very challenging thing for me which I had never done before.
The film's music director AR Rahman praised Diljit Dosanjh and called him a superstar. He also called Parineeti an underrated singer and said that she is also very talented as a singer.

The film 'Amar Singh Chamkila' is released on Netflix on April 12. This film is based on Punjab's folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila. Born in Dhubri, a small village of Ludhiana, Amar used to compose songs on extra marital affairs, love affairs and husband-wife relationships. These songs of his used to be the first choice at weddings in Punjab. In the film, the character of Chamkila is played by Diljit Dosanjh while Parineeti Chopra plays the role of his wife Amarjot.
