Imtiaz Ali praised Shahid-Kareena: Said- Despite the breakup during the shooting of 'Jab We Met', there was no wrinkle on their faces, both of them are very professional.

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has praised Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. He said in an interview that both are very professional artists and despite the breakup, they did not let any problem arise in the shooting of 'Jab We Met'. This was Shahid-Kareena's last film as a couple which was released in 2007.

Imtiaz Ali said in an interview to Galata India, 'Most of the film had been made. Then we had to shoot two days after Shahid and Kareena's breakup. Both of them participated in the shooting in a very professional manner, there was no wrinkle on their faces, even though a lot was going on in their personal lives.

Imtiaz also told in the interview that Shahid and Kareena were not the first choice for the film. He initially wanted to make this film with Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta.

Imtiaz said, 'Bobby is my best friend with whom I wanted to make this film but I thought it would take five years to make the film. Because of that, Bobby got busy somewhere else, so I thought that I will not make this film with him. After this I approached Shahid for 'Jab We Met'. Initially I thought that Shahid would look young in the role of Aditya, so to make him look a little mature, I made him wear glasses and worked on his dressing.

On Kareena's casting, Imtiaz said, 'I had earlier approached Kareena for the film but things did not work out. Later she agreed to work in the film. During that time, Shahid and Kareena were not in a very good phase in their careers. But I believe that such times keep coming in the life of every filmmaker and actor.

Kareena Kapoor received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for 'Jab We Met'.

Imtiaz further said, 'I had offered 'Jab We Met' to Preity Zinta before Kareena but she had rejected it. When I narrated the script to Preeti at her home, she laughed a lot. I felt as if she was making fun of me but she said that the film was very funny so I kept narrating the script to her.
