Hingoli, Leading News Service: At the Kanergaon check post on the Hingoli to Washim route, the inspection team has seized cash worth Rs 15 lakh from a jeep. In this case, the concerned have been instructed to appear at the Income Tax office in Nanded on April 19.
Election process of Hingoli Lok Sabha Constituency is underway. Precautionary measures have been taken to prevent illegal movement of liquor and cash during the election period. For this, check posts have been set up on the borders of all roads coming into Hingoli district and check posts have also been set up on internal roads in the district. Therefore, all the vehicles going through Hingoli district and coming into the district are being inspected.
Checkpoints have been set up at Kanergaonaka, Yeldari, Gadhona under the office of Hingoli Sub Divisional Officer. Revenue and other department staff along with police personnel have been appointed on 24-hour duty at this place. Apart from this, Sub Divisional Officer Umakant Pardhi, Tehsildar Navnath Wagwad are visiting the check posts.
Meanwhile, a cruiser jeep was stopped at the Kanergaonaka checkpoint around Monday night. When the officials and employees present at the place checked the jeep, cash of 15 lakhs was found in it. As the persons in the jeep could not give answers regarding this amount, the said amount has been confiscated and kept in the treasury office. After that Sub Divisional Officer Pardhi, Nodal Officer Arvind Munde has immediately informed the Election Department and Income Tax Department of Nanded in this regard. After that, the Income Tax Department has given instructions to the concerned persons to appear at the Income Tax Office in Nanded on 19th.
