Leader Online Desk: A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Friday (17th) in the case of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's land scam. The court has not given relief to Hemant Soren in this case. The Supreme Court has clarified that the next hearing of this case will be held on Tuesday, May 21. Now the matter will be heard before the vacation bench. Therefore, there may be a delay in getting relief for Hemant Soren in the background of Lok Sabha elections.
During the hearing held in the Supreme Court today (17th), the ED has asked for time to file a reply in this case. The ED has also clarified that the lower court has rejected Hemant Soren's regular bail.
His bail application was heard before a bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta. Hemant Soren filed a petition against his arrest and sought interim bail to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections till the court's decision, the hearing in this matter was held in the Supreme Court today.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for ED detainee Hemant Soren, told the court that some people are the same as others. During the hearing in the Supreme Court, Kapil Sibal also alleged the disparity shown towards Soren. Kapil Sibal, Soren's lawyer, expressed the opinion that Hemant Soren should have been granted bail just as the Supreme Court had granted bail to Kejriwal. But the ED counsel replied in the Supreme Court that they are not ready, they need time to reply regarding the arrest of Hemant Soren, ED has also told the court.
After hearing Hemant Soren's counsel and the ED's counsel, Justices Sanjeev Khanna and Dipankar Dutta said that the court must be satisfied. Therefore, the court has also said that the hearing in this (Hemant Soren) case will be held on Tuesday 21st May in the vacation bench.
