Leaders Online Desk: A heat wave warning has been given for the next 5 days from today (May 18) in the north-western plains of India. ANI has reported that the information in this context has been given by the Indian Meteorological Department.
The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that heat wave to severe heat wave will persist over the plains of North-West India during the next 5 days. It is also said that there is a possibility of heat wave in East and Central India in the next 3 days.

Most parts of North India, including Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi, are expected to witness a heat wave between Friday 17 and Tuesday 21 May.
Heavy rain warning for southern states
Heavy to very heavy rains have been issued from Sunday, May 19 to Tuesday, May 21 in most of the states of the southern peninsular region of India. The India Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of very heavy rains in Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the south.

Southwest Monsoon is highly likely to move over South Andaman Sea, parts of Southeast Bay of Bengal and Nicobar Islands around 19 May 2024. A low pressure area is likely to form in Southwest Bay of Bengal around May 22. It is likely to move northeastward initially and develop pressure over central parts of Bay of Bengal around May 24, the Meteorological Department also clarified.
