Leader Online Desk: Four Indian medical students drowned in Russia's Volkhov river. All these students were studying at Aroslav-the-Vaz Novgorod State University. One of the dead has been identified as Jishan Ashpak Panjri. At the time of this incident, Jishan's family members informed that he was talking with his family on video call.

An Indian student drowned while swimming in the Volkhov River after drifting a short distance from the shore. Then her other four friends started trying to save her. Three students drowned trying to save her. Meanwhile, a girl was pulled out safely by the locals. The name of the surviving student is Nisha Bhupesh Sonavane. She is currently undergoing treatment.

The body will be brought to India
The Collector of Jalgaon district in Maharashtra said that arrangements are being made to bring the dead bodies back to India. He said, “The body of a student has been found. The search is on for three other students. We are in touch with the Indian Embassy in Russia and the Consulate General in St. Petersburg with the help of the Ministry of External Affairs. We are trying to bring the bodies back to India as per international protocol.”
