The real name of the lead character Happu Singh of the famous serial Happu Ki Ultan-Paltan is Yogesh Tripathi.

Hamirpur, a district of Uttar Pradesh. Rath is a small town in Hamirpur. In 2004, a 23-year-old young boy from Rath came to Mumbai with the dream of becoming an actor.

Since there was no place to stay in Mumbai, I stayed at the station for 4 nights. He started wandering here and there in search of further work. As luck would have it, one day I got an ad film for Chloromint. That ad became quite famous as soon as it was released.

Thanks to the same ad film, I got a chance to work first in the television show FIR, then in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain.

That actor did such a good job that the channel people made a show in his name. The name of that show is – Happu Ki Ultan-Paltan, and we are talking about Inspector Happu Singh i.e. Yogesh Tripathi.

Yogesh Tripathi is counted among the most successful actors of TV today. However, there is a years long struggle behind this. In the early days he used to perform street plays. From this he got only 75 rupees.

Father was a physics lecturer, interest in films arose because of mother. Yogesh Tripathi comes from an ordinary middle class family. His father was a physics lecturer. There was only an atmosphere of studies at home, but Yogesh had other dreams. Mother was fond of watching and showing films. Because of his mother, Yogesh also developed an interest in films.

Used to be happy just by touching the train going to Mumbai Yogesh had developed a passion for acting since childhood. They started doing drama in every village. Although he wanted to show himself on screen. He understood that if he wanted to appear on screen, he would have to travel to Mumbai.

He said, 'For us, just thinking about Mumbai was a big deal. Once I had filled the form for a railway job. The exam center was deliberately put in Mumbai so that I could get a chance to go there. On reaching Jhansi, we came to know that the exam has been cancelled.

Then we got down at Jhansi itself. Since they could no longer go to Mumbai, they came back home by taking the train. Just touching the train going to Mumbai was a big deal at that time.

Served tea to people, mopped the floor With time Yogesh realized that it would not be right to go to Mumbai without any base, so he made Lucknow his first destination. He said, 'I came to Lucknow on the pretext of studies and joined theater there. I had understood that it would not be right to go to Mumbai without a godfather.

However, there was a lot of struggle in Lucknow. There one had to spend many hours sitting on the stairs. People had to be served tea. Had to mop the floor.

Started performing street plays by roaming around, used to get 75 rupees While doing theater in Lucknow, Yogesh once got a chance to go to the National School of Drama (NSD). After reaching there his eyes opened.

He said, 'Once I got selected for the workshop of NSD. I got a chance to do a play there. By going to NSD I came to know what real theater is. After this, I started thinking only about theater day and night. He started roaming around and performing street plays. He used to do five shows each, for which he used to get Rs 75.

Had to sleep at Mumbai's CST station for 4 nights While doing theater in Lucknow, Yogesh started feeling that the time had come to go to Mumbai. He made some friends while doing theatre. He came to Mumbai with them.

Yogesh said, 'We reached Mumbai, but had no place to stay. Decided to sleep at the station itself. A total of four nights, I and my friends slept at CST station in Mumbai.

Used to sleep using carpet and suitcase as pillow 'Anyway, I lived in the same room with many people in Mumbai. There was no money to buy a mattress. He used to sleep by spreading a carpet below and using the suitcase as a pillow. Once a friend was coming from Lucknow. Due to embarrassment, I bought a mattress for Rs 300 at that time.

To earn his living, he used to do small plays and used to earn two-two and a half thousand rupees from it. This would suffice for the entire month's work.

Yogesh Tripathi said that he used to lie in Mumbai's famous Prithvi Theater the whole day in the hope of getting an opportunity from somewhere. May you meet someone. Might get to know about an audition somewhere. Finally, one day in 2007, he got a chance to work in advertising. This ad was of Chloromint, which was quite famous on TV.

Yogesh's life changed after this famous Chloromint ad. Yogesh got Rs 35 thousand for this ad.

Chloromint's ad changed the fate Chloromint's ad became the first step to success for Yogesh. Director Shashank Bali was present there when its shooting was going on. He liked Yogesh's work very much.

Yogesh himself tells what happened after this, 'Shashank Bali found my role quite funny. Seeing that ad, he gave me a job in the TV show FIR. After this, Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain and Happu Ki Ultan-Paltan were received through him. I have a very close relationship with Shashank Bhai since that time.

Got the role of Happu Singh for the first time in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain, then the show was made with the same name. Taking the story further, Yogesh says, 'I used to play different characters in the show FIR. My work was appreciated, but not recognized. Then I got a chance to play the character of Happu Singh in Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain.

This character became very famous within no time. At that time I told people that the character has become famous, at least run one of my stories on the side. At that time no one had thought that the channel would make a separate show 'Happu Ki Ultan-Paltan' with me.

He says, 'Just now I had gone to my sisters' place in Mahoba to get Rakhi tied. A crowd of people gathered there to see me. The time came to call the police. A call had also come from the DM and MP there. I felt very happy to see people's love.

Situation made me a comedian, now I want to do a serious role After working in television for more than 15 years, Yogesh now wants to try his hand in films also. He said, 'I have a heartfelt desire to do serious roles other than comedy. I did not enter the industry thinking of comedy, the situation made me a comedian. Had I been born in the time of Kader Khan and Asrani, I might have got work in many films.
