According to Dainik Bhaskar sources, Govinda was to leave for Kolkata for a program on October 1 by a 6 am flight. However, at 5 in the morning the revolver fell while being kept in the cupboard and misfired. Govinda was shot just below his knee. According to sources related to the hospital, after initial treatment, Govinda is now out of danger.

Wife Sunita was out of town when the accident happened.
Sunita's manager Saurabh Prajapati from Rajasthan told – She had come on September 29 to have darshan of Khatushyam Baba. Visited the temple on 30th September at around 4.30 pm. The plan was to return to Mumbai at 2 pm on 1st October. She got information about the incident around 5 am on Tuesday morning, after which she returned.
