The Security Council has called for an immediate end to the war, citing the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has given information about this through X Post.
Antonio Guterres said in a post that the council approved a resolution calling for an end to the war in Gaza and the unconditional release of hostages held by Hamas following the October 7 attack on Israel. It should be implemented as soon as possible.'
The resolution was introduced by 12 non-permanent members of the international forum, including Algeria, Guyana, Ecuador, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, South Korea and Switzerland. Regarding this resolution, Mozambique's Ambassador to the United Nations, Pedro Comisario Afonso, said, 'We express our gratitude for this resolution and for the efforts of all members of this Council to end the catastrophic situation in Gaza. The situation in Gaza is of grave concern to the entire international community. The devastating consequences in the Gaza Strip are a clear threat to international peace and security.
