Leaders Online Desk: Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi (age 72) passed away today (14). Sushil Modi was one of the senior BJP leaders in Bihar. He was suffering from cancer. Bihar's current deputy chief minister, Samrat Chaudhary, announced his death in a post on X.

Sushil Kumar Modi was suffering from cancer for the last six months. On April 3, in one of his ex-posts, he informed that he had cancer. His death was informed by the current Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Samrat Chaudhary. Sushil Kumar Modi was born on January 5, 1952 in Patna, the capital of Bihar. His father's name was Motilal Modi and mother's name was Ratna Devi. His wife Jessie Sushil Modi is a Christian and a professor. They have two children.
MLA for the first time in 1990
Sushil Kumar Modi graduated in Botany from Patna Science College. In 1990, he was first elected as an MLA in the Bihar Legislative Assembly. After this he became MLA in 1995 and 2000 also. He was MLA for three consecutive terms.

The death of Sushil Kumar Modi has spread mourning in political circles. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled his untimely demise. Sharing an old photo with him on social media, he wrote, 'I am deeply saddened by the untimely death of my dear colleague in the party and my friend for decades, Sushil Modiji. He has made an invaluable contribution to the rise and success of BJP in Bihar. He had made a name for himself in student politics by strongly opposing the Emergency. He was known as a very hardworking and friendly MLA. His understanding of political matters was very deep. He also did a commendable job as an administrator. His active role in passing GST will always be remembered. Prime Minister Modi has said that my condolences are with his family at this time of grief.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has condoled the death of Sushil Modi by tweeting. “We understand the death of senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi. This is an irreparable loss to the BJP family and organisation. Your life is devoted to the welfare of the poor. And the backward are an inspiration to us all,” he said in a tweet.
