Leaders Online Desk: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has revoked the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licenses of five major Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) citing violations of norms including misappropriation of foreign grants. The action comes after a probe by the Home Ministry till March 31 on religious involvement, misappropriation of foreign grants, among others.
These NGOs include CNI Synodical Board of Social Service (CNI-SBSS), Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI), Indo-Global Social Service Society (IGSSS), Church Assistant for Social Action (CASA), Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFOI). ) are included.
A license under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act is mandatory for receiving foreign funds. Cancellation of license makes these NGOs ineligible to receive foreign funds.
