Samantha had recently said in an interview given to Galata India, since childhood I had to fight for validation. I think most Indian parents are like this. They think they are protecting you, they say you are not as smart as you think. My father told me that you are not smart. The standard of Indian education is such that even you get first rank.

Samantha further said, I have believed for a long time that I am not really smart. I am not good. So when my first movie Ye Maya Chesave was released and it became a blockbuster, suddenly people were shouting praises, but I was still fighting for validation. I was fighting for the fact that someone would come and say something good to me. Compliments were pouring in and I still didn't understand how to accept it. Because I was not used to it.
Adding to her point, Samantha said, there are two types of success. Either you consider yourself a God or you go into darkness and keep thinking that you are not worthy of this praise and love. This is what happened to me. I was afraid that people would wake up and find out that I'm not as cool or talented as they think. I was struggling with the insecurity that I had to do something better, I had to look good so that I could be worthy of praise. It forced me to go through the whole cycle. It took me a long time to forget everything I was told as a child. It took me 10-12 years to recover from this.
Samantha has further said that it took her a long time to understand that she is not perfect and cannot become perfect, but not being perfect is also not bad.
