After staying away from the film industry for 14 years, Fardeen Khan made a comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web series 'Heeramandi'.

In an interview, he talked about this long gap and said that he did not stay away from films intentionally but there were some reasons for it.

Fardeen has played the character of Wali Mohammad in 'Hiramandi'.

Fardeen was devastated by his father's death

He said, 'In 2009, my father Feroz Khan passed away and I needed some time to recover from it. That time was very tough for me on a personal level.'

Fardeen further said, 'Apart from this, I was also facing some challenges in becoming a father, so my wife and I took IVF treatment. Even then I needed a break but I did not think that the gap would be so long. Then I had a daughter, I wanted to spend time with her, so the time passed like this. Now when I look back, I feel that I should not have taken such a long break. Of course, I regret it on many levels.'

Fardeen's father Firoz Khan died of lung cancer on 27 April 2009.

Fardeen made his Bollywood debut in 2001

Fardeen made his Bollywood debut in 2001 with the film 'Prem Aggan'. This film was directed by his father Feroz Khan. This was the time when his image was famous as a chocolate boy.

Fardeen was a part of multi-starrer films like 'No Entry' and 'Hey Baby' in his career but he never had a solo hit. 'Dulha Mil Gaya' released in 2010 was his last film.
