Diljit Dosanjh's upcoming film Punjab 95 has been surrounded by controversies for a long time. Diljit is going to play the role of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalda in the film. Being a sensitive issue, the censor board had demanded 85 cuts in the film, however now the revised committee has ordered not 85 but 120 cuts in it. The committee also has a problem with the title of the film, for which a change has been demanded.

There will be these big changes in the film

  • According to a recent Mid-Day report, the new committee of the Censor Board has ordered the filmmakers to change all those scenes of the film where Punjab and its district Tarn Taran Sahib have been mentioned.
  • There is also a demand to remove references to Canada and UK shown in the film.
  • The title of the film is Punjab 95. Jaswant Singh Khalra went missing in 1995, so the censor board committee has demanded that the title be changed. This may hurt people's sentiments.
  • The committee demands that the name of the main character of the film Jaswant Singh Khalra should also be changed.
  • Gurbani scenes should also be removed from the film.

Objection to the changes made by the makers of the film

According to reports, the filmmakers have objected to the changes asked by the censor board. They say that Satwant Singh Khalra was a respected person of Punjab, on whom the film is made. In such a situation, it would be wrong to remove his name from the film.

Let us tell you that Diljit Dosanjh is in the lead role in the film Punjab 95. The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and directed by Honey Trehan. When the film reached CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) for certification, the board ordered 85 cuts in the film. After this, the makers demanded freedom of speech and asked for reconsideration of it. On the demand of the filmmakers, the Censor Board formed a new committee, however the new committee has ordered 35 more cuts in it.
