Dilip Kumar had secretly married for the second time: He had said – I cheated Saira, I will not be able to forgive myself

Dilip Kumar married Saira Banu in 1966. However, after 15 years of marriage, he married a girl named Asma Rehman for the second time. He did this marriage secretly. But their relationship broke in just 2 years. Dilip Kumar and Asma Rehman divorced in 1983. At the same time, Dilip Kumar was always regretting his second marriage and cheating on Saira Banu.

Dilip Kumar had said- I was cheated

Regarding this, in his memoir The Substance and the Shadow: An Autobiography, Dilip Kumar had said that he first met Asma during a cricket match in Hyderabad. Both as a fan and a star, but later both got into a relationship. Dilip Kumar later came to know that there were some evil intentions in it.

Dilip Kumar had told that he met Asma through his sisters. He was told that Asma was married and had three children. After some time, Dilip Kumar realized that Asma and her husband were present everywhere he went for work.

Regarding this, the actor had further said – I was completely unaware of that collusion. Which was being done to me fraudulently and to get a commitment from me, a situation was being created in which vested interests could be achieved.

'I cheated Saira, can't forgive myself'

Dilip Kumar married Asma in 1981. When Saira Banu came to know about the news of marriage, she was deeply shocked because she had unwavering faith in Dilip Kumar. It was a very bad time for their relationship.

Dilip Kumar had written about this – I had hurt Saira and her unwavering trust in me was broken. I can never forget this or forgive myself.
