It has been 17 years since Deepika Padukone entered Bollywood. Recently, in an interview, she talked about her film journey. She said that she has been working in Bollywood for so long but she never had to give an audition, but this did not happen with her in the West i.e. Hollywood.

Deepika said, 'When I started my journey in Hollywood about ten years ago, I had to give auditions which was a completely new experience for me. I had never given auditions before. I was not a trained actor and neither had I taken training from any fancy acting school. Whatever I have learned, I have learned while working.'

I did not audition for 'Om Shanti Om': Deepika

Deepika also told that when she signed her first film 'Om Shanti Om', director Farah Khan did not take any screen test or audition of her. Deepika said that even after 'Om Shanti Om' she did not have to give audition for any Hindi film.

'Om Shanti Om' was released in 2007 in which Deepika was seen opposite Shahrukh Khan. After this Deepika never looked back and gave many hit films. In 2017, she made her Hollywood debut with Vin Diesel's film 'XXX: Return of Xander Cage'.

This is how Deepika got 'Om Shanti Om'

Earlier in an interview, Deepika had said that luck and opportunity played an important role in getting her 'Om Shanti Om'. In an interview, she had said, 'I came to Mumbai for modelling. Atul Kasbekar (photographer) was the first person who told my parents that I should come to Mumbai.'

Deepika further said, 'Farah was making 'Om Shanti Om' at that time and she needed a newcomer. She could have cast any established actress in the film, but she chose a newcomer. She saw all my advertisements and decided that I was perfect for the role. She didn't even know me then. She saw me in advertisements and took the risk of casting me opposite Shahrukh.'
