New Delhi, Leading News Service: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking the release of the polling statistics within 48 hours of the polling. The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Election Commission on this petition and sought its reply.
The petition was filed by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). The petition has sought a direction to the Election Commission to release the polling statistics within 48 hours after the end of polling. While hearing this petition, Sir Judge D. Y. Chandrachud led by Justice G. A bench of Pardiwala and Justice Sanjay Mishra issued a notice to the Election Commission and sought its reply within a week.
Stating that the Election Commission needs to be given time to reply, the judge has scheduled a hearing on the matter on May 24, a day before the polling of the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
A percentage increase days after the polls?
