A hearing was held in the Bombay High Court today on Kangana's controversial film Emergency. The petition has been filed by Kangana and Zee Studio. They have objected that the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) had earlier given a certificate to the film, but banned it 4 days before its release on 6 September.
In the hearing held in Bombay High Court today, the court has ordered CBFC to give its decision on film certification by 25th September. The next hearing of the case will be held on 25th September. During the hearing, the Central Board has sought time from the court to form a new committee to give its decision in this matter.
The last hearing in the Bombay High Court was held on 4 September. Then the court had sought a reply from the CBFC by 19 September. Sikhs have objections to the film. They allege that an attempt has been made to tarnish their image in it. Petitions have been filed in many states on this.
The trailer of the film Emergency was released on 14 August.
What is the whole matter? Kangana Ranaut and the filmmakers have accused the CBFC in the petition that it has arbitrarily withheld the certificate of the film. The CBFC had given the certificate through e-mail, however, refused to give a copy of the certificate just 4 days before the release.
On this, CBFC lawyer Abhinav Chandrachud has said that the makers of Emergency had received a system generated mail, but later it was stopped due to objections.
The court had reprimanded the CBFC During the hearing on September 4, the High Court judge reprimanded the officials of CBFC. He asked them how can you send a system generated email. Did the officials not watch the film before sending the email? Did the officials not use their brains while giving the certificate?
In the petition, the lawyer on behalf of Kangana Ranaut's production house said – We will not make any changes in the film and will release the film in the same way as CBFC has sealed it earlier.

This case was already in MP High Court Jabalpur Sikh Sangat had raised objections to the film Emergency and its trailer and had filed a petition in the Madhya Pradesh High Court demanding its ban. They say that an attempt is being made to tarnish the image of the Sikh community through the film. On this, the Madhya Pradesh High Court had ordered the CBFC to consider its objections before approving the film.
Bombay High Court refuses to give immediate order In the hearing on September 4, the Bombay High Court had said that the Madhya Pradesh High Court has already given orders to the CBFC, hence it cannot give any order on this right now.
The court told the makers, 'We are with you. If only you had argued in the same forceful manner before the Madhya Pradesh High Court, it would not have happened that the CBFC chairman would not have signed.
Finally the court said that they are not rejecting the petition of the makers. If there is a delay of a week, the sky will not fall. The makers should have first presented these arguments before the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Let us tell you that the film Emergency has been in controversy since the trailer was released. There are continuous protests going on in Punjab regarding the film. Kangana is also receiving death threats after Khalistan supporter Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was shown in the trailer of the film.
Recently, a person named Vicky Thomas released a video saying that if Jarnail Singh is portrayed in a wrong way, then Kangana will have to face the consequences.
