David Dhawan's challenge to OTT actors: He said- Come to the theatre and show your worth, on OTT you don't know whether the film was a hit or a flop

Veteran filmmaker David Dhawan has challenged the actors of OTT. In an interview, the director said that actors are secure on OTT. Their real status is known only in the theatre.

While talking about himself, David said that he has become very choosy and now makes only selective films. He is not at all impressed with this era of OTT. He considers OTT as just another medium.

David said that actors play safe game on OTT.

In an interview, when host Arbaaz Khan asked David, do you think the charm of cinema has diminished with the advent of OTT culture? The director said, 'Not at all. Let me tell you one thing. Actors these days have become very secure. They do OTT films with safety. You don't even know how much the film did or didn't do..'

'They are afraid of the media'
David further said- 'You come to the theatre and show your place. They are afraid… they don't do films that are released in theatres. They are afraid of the media. In our time, there used to be applause in theatres. You cannot get that kind of reaction on OTT.'

The last film directed by David, 'Coolie No. 1' was a remake of David's film of the same name released in 1995.

The interesting thing is that the last film 'Coolie No. 1' directed by David himself was also released on OTT. This film, released in 2020, had Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles. It was badly rejected by the audience.

It is being said that David is currently working on his next film with his son Varun. This is a romantic-comedy film named 'Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai'. It is to be released in October 2025. However, no official announcement has been made about it yet.
