Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan starrer film The Legend of Maula Jatt is in controversy. This Pakistani film is scheduled to be released in India on October 2, although protests are continuing in many parts of the country to stop its release.

Some time ago, Indian actor Imran Zahid had also announced the release of Pakistani drama show Humsafar in India in collaboration with Mahesh Bhatt. Now amidst the news of ban on the film The Legend of Maula Jatt, the actor has supported the film and filed an RTI (Right to Information) in the Ministry of External Affairs and Broadcasting, seeking answers regarding the official ban. The actor says that when the film was announced a month ago, it is wrong to stop the release of the film at the last moment, because a lot is at stake in it.

While talking to Dainik Bhaskar, actor Imran Zahid has said, it is very disappointing to see that Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan starrer film The Legend of Maula Jatt has been stopped from releasing in theaters in India. In this era where digital media shows content beyond the borders, banning a film in theaters seems contradictory. If digital platforms can allow this then why can't it be shown in cinema halls.

It was announced a month later, so why was it banned just before the release – Imran Zahid

He further said, what is even more worrying is that we have not received any clear information from the government regarding working with Pakistani artists. Filmmakers and artists are troubled by the last-minute uncertainty. For example, Zee Studio had announced the film The Legend of Maula Jatt a month later. But why the ban now, why so close to the release date we hear that the film has been banned.

If the government asks, we will not release it – Imran

Imran Zahid has further said, if any such notice or order comes from the government, then the country will come first for us. We will never do that work. But there is no clarity yet. Last year, the Mumbai High Court and the Supreme Court said in a petition that there is no such ban on working with Pakistani artists. We have filed an RTI (Right to Information), so that we have answers whether we should think in this direction or not. If the government says we don't have to do it, we absolutely won't do it.

Imran Zahid to release Pakistani drama Humsafar in India with Mahesh Bhatt

On releasing the show Humsafar in India, Imran has said, along with Bhatt sahib (Mahesh Bhatt) we had also announced that we will release the Pakistani drama Humsafar in India, but we did not get any message that it will not be released in India. Will be allowed to happen. But if we prepare it completely and find out on the last day, then everyone's hard work and efforts will be wasted.
