Closing Bell news : Stock market closes at record high, 'Mid-Smallcap' thrives


Leader Online Desk : The stability in the global market is seen to have a positive effect on the domestic stock market. Even on the last day of the week, bullish winds continued in the stock market. The midcap index hit a record high today. Nifty touched 23,490 level for the first time. Markets closed higher, hitting new record highs. Nifty hit a new high of 23,490. The Nifty rose 66 points to close at 23,465. Sensex rose 181 points to close at 76,992 st Nifty Bank also rose 155 points to close at 50,002. On the other hand, the rupee closed 1 paise lower at 83.56/$.

Amid steady global market cues, domestic stock markets opened on a bullish note on Friday (June 14) with markets trading in limited range. The Nifty Midcap index hit another record high today and touched the level of 54,878 for the first time. The Sensex opened up 102 points at 76,912. The Nifty opened 66 points higher at 23,464 while the Bank Nifty opened 147 points higher at 49,993.

'Ya' shares experienced a boom

All sectoral indices including Nifty Bank, Nifty Metal, Nifty IT and Nifty Pharma were seen trading in the green today. Shares of PowerGrid, Wipro, Tata Motors, Titan, Axis Back, Infosys, Nestle India, Tata Steel and Reliance gained marginally on the Sensex. While Ultratech Cement, Maruti and HUL were the worst losers.

Nifty at all-time high

The Sensex was trading up 231.78 points or 0.30 per cent at 77,042.68 at around 3 pm today. The Nifty was seen up 82.70 points, or 0.35 per cent, at 23,481.60. Around 2177 stocks rose while 1598 stocks experienced declines in today's trade. 106 shares remained unchanged. Domestic stock markets ended on a bullish note today. A record high was recorded in the market today. Nifty touched 23,490 level for the first time. Markets closed higher, hitting new record highs. Nifty hit a new high of 23,490. The Nifty rose 66 points to close at 23,465. And the Sensex rose 181 points to close at 76,992. Nifty Bank also closed up 155 points at 50,002. On the other hand, the rupee weakened by 1 paise to close at 83.56/$.

The midcap index crossed 55,100 for the first time

The midcap index hit a record high today. The midcap index has crossed 55,100 for the first time. The midcap index continues to rise for the 8th consecutive day. Midcap hit record highs for fifth straight day. The midcap index has gained nearly 12% in 8 sessions.

LIC shares at day's high

Shares of LIC of India hit an intraday high. Shares of the company surged following reports of LIC's entry into the health insurance space. Shares of LIC rose 4 percent to Rs 1,043.

Shares rise as railway PSUs get big orders

Railtel Corporation of India (RAILTEL), the state-owned railway company providing broadband and VPN services, on Friday (June 14) bagged a huge order. The railway PSU said it has received an order worth Rs 24.15 crore from Tamil Nadu Fibernet Corporation Limited. This is the second contract for the company this week. The multibagger railway PSU stock has returned investors around 220 percent in one year.

Exports increased by 9.1 percent in May

According to May trade data, exports rose 9.1% in May. On a year-on-year basis, exports rose to Rs 3,813 crore from $3,495 crore in May. Imports rose to $6,191 crore from $5,748 crore. However, the trade deficit widened to $2,378 crore from $2,253 crore on a year-on-year basis.
