After the victory of the incumbent President Mohammad Moijju in the parliamentary elections of Maldives with a huge majority, he has decided to provide free space to China in his country. Now they have got free rein to take decisions in China's interest. They have also signed a military agreement with China.

As Sri Lanka tightened its policy towards China, China needed Maldives for exploration and mineral exploration in the Indian Ocean. Moijju's election success has paved the way for China. In 2011, China obtained the right to explore the seabed for mineral deposits from the International Seabed Authority. China has received a 15-year license for exploration of polymetallic sulphide in the 10,000-square-foot area of ​​the sea base. Now China is going to search for gold, silver, lead, zinc and copper along with this mineral on the seabed in the maritime boundary of Maldives.
