The National Center for Seismology (NCS) is the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring earthquake activity in the country. The agency recorded a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale in China. The epicenter of the quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles), the agency said.
