Leaders Online Desk: A grand Ram temple was built in 1970 in the Naxal-hit village of Keralapenda in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. However, the temple was closed in 2003 due to the warning of Naxalites. Now the CRPF jawans have again cleaned the temple and opened its doors. Chhattisgarh News

About five decades ago, marble idols of Rama, Sita and Lakshmana were installed in a temple in Keralapend. However, due to the growing outbreak of Naxalism, worship in the temple was stopped in 2003. After this the doors were completely closed.
Villagers said that Bihari Maharaj established the temple in 1970. About 80 kilometers from Sukma, the villagers carried cement, stone, gravel and building materials over their heads. After the completion of the temple, the entire area became devoted to Shri Ram. Meat and alcohol were also banned in the area. Chhattisgarh News

Even today, 95 percent of the people in the village abstain from eating meat and drinking alcohol. Villagers said that once upon a time a big yatra used to be held here. Sages and sages used to come from Ayodhya. Due to the increase in Naxal violence and the closure of worship services by Naxalites, all events including fairs have been completely stopped. Naxalites have vandalized the temple and locked it.
