In the film Margao Express, Divyendu Sharma and Prateek Gandhi have comic roles whereas you are seen in a serious role, tell us something about this?
I am happy to say that I have made my presence felt among such wonderful artists. After watching the film, I even gave myself a small compliment. I had fewer jokes than both the actors, yet I showed my presence. This was a big deal for me.

The film was released on 22 March.

Didn't you feel bad that all the good dialogues went to the other two actors?
No, it is not so, I have done a lot of work through facial expressions only. When you have such good co-stars, everything seems easy.

Tell us about your journey.
I was born in Gopalganj, Bihar. Although I was brought up in Mumbai. I did my schooling in Mumbai only. After this he did an acting course in Delhi. After this he went to New York and took acting training. When I returned from New York, it seemed that the doors had opened, but it did not happen. After a lot of struggle, it now seems that the hard work is paying off.

How did you start acting?
I used to do theater in 2003. After this he did two shows on DD National. When I started getting some money, I felt that this is my destination. However, I immediately realized that life should not stop here. Thinking this, I decided to leave the TV industry. However, in the meantime, in 2012, I got a chance to do a show 'Yudh' with Amitabh Bachchan.

Sharing the screen with Mr. Bachchan was a big thing in itself. An interesting incident happened during the shooting of this show. My elbow hit him while shooting the action sequence. At that moment I felt that my career was over. I was scared but Bachchan Saheb showed great heart and let it go.

How did you feel when you saw Amitabh Bachchan for the first time?
At first I thought I would treat her like a co-star. However, when he came forward, it seemed that Amitabh Bachchan had come. Everyone got up from their chairs. I also stood up after seeing them. Then realized that Amitabh Bachchan is not a normal co-star. His aura is different from everyone else.

Seen in real look for the first time in Margao Express. Have you been experimenting with your look in earlier films and series?
Yes, a person called me and said that for the first time someone has done justice to your looks. I told him that justice was done to my looks in Madgaon Express, but justice was done to my talent in previous films.

You impressed a lot in the character of Chandan Mahato in Khaki-The Bihar Chapter. What will you say?
I always share my scripts with dad also. He felt that this script was not right for me. However, director Neeraj Pandey was quite confident that I would be able to play it in a better way. Whatever time I spent in Bihar, I used all those experiences to play the character of Chandan Mahato. People's reaction later was also amazing. Many people said that perhaps no one else could have played the character the way I did.
