There is outrage in the country over the brutal rape and murder of a medical professional in Kolkata. Many doctors across the country are protesting on the streets demanding justice, which is adversely affecting medical facilities. Meanwhile, veteran Bollywood celebs have demanded strict action on the matter. Actor Mithun Chakraborty, who himself belongs to a Bengali background, has said that being a Bengali, he is not able to walk with his head held high. Shatrughan Sinha has justified the doctors' protest.

West Bengal BJP has shared a video of actor Mithun Chakraborty. In this, Mithun said- I have said this many times, at many places, that the situation in West Bengal will worsen in the coming times. Today, being a Bengali, I do not have the courage to stand up with my head held high. I sympathize with the victim's family. I would like to tell the government that whoever is involved in this incident should be given strict punishment.

Shatrughan Sinha has expressed his displeasure over the matter and said, it is not a good thing for doctors to come out on the streets. Keeping the highest respect for the profession of doctors, their demands are justified. The government and society should take care of this. But I have a request to the doctors who have come out on the streets that this will harm the poor and needy people, those who need immediate treatment may suffer.

On 9 August, a trainee doctor was raped and murdered in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College. After that, doctors protested. Doctors across the country went on strike. On the other hand, late in the night of 14 August, a mob entered this hospital and vandalized it.
