Leader Online Desk: The CBI has filed a chargesheet against six persons, including accused and suspended Trinamool Congress leader Shah Jahan Sheikh, in the much-publicized Sandesh women's sexual abuse and ED assault case in West Bengal.
The CBI on Monday filed a charge sheet in a special court in the case of sexual abuse of women under Sandesh and ED assault. On January 5, 2024, an ED team had gone here under a tip to raid Sheikh's house in connection with the distribution of crores of rupees. This time the mob attacked the team. The central government took serious note of the attack while arresting Shahjahan Sheikh for his alleged close relationship with the former food supply minister of the state, Jyoti Priya Mallik, who was arrested in this scam.

The Calcutta High Court had ordered the immediate arrest of Shah Jahan Sheikh. After this, Sheikh was arrested by the West Bengal government on February 29, 2024. It was taken into custody by the CBI on March 6, 2024.

In Sandeshkhali village of 24 Uttar Parganas district of West Bengal, some women were allegedly gang-raped and land grabbing of the poor. On this, the ruling Trinamool Congress and the opposition BJP in the state have been accusing each other. The petitions filed in this case were heard in Calcutta High Court. At this time, the court had reprimanded the government for the delay in taking action against the accused. Also, a complaint was filed with the state police in this case four years ago. It has taken four years to investigate the matter,” the court had also heard.
