On the morning of 14 April, shots were fired at Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartment. The investigation of this case has been going on for the past several months. So far 5 arrests have been made in the case. The first hearing of the firing case was held in Mumbai's Special Court on Monday. Special Court Judge B.B. Shelke said in the chargesheet that many strong evidences have been found in the case, with the help of which action can be taken against the people of Bishnoi gang.

According to a recent Spotboy report, the first hearing of the firing case at Salman's Galaxy apartment was held on Monday, in which public prosecutor Jaisingh Desai appeared in court. After looking at the chargesheet of the case, Special Judge BD Shelke of Special Court Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) said that the police have found strong evidence against all the accused arrested in the case, on the basis of which action can be taken against them.

According to a PTI report, the court said that proceedings against the five accused will continue under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 34 (common intention), 120 (B) of the IPC. Apart from this, sections of MCOCA and Arms Act will also be imposed on the accused.

A 1736-page charge sheet was filed in the MCOCA court

In the firing case at Salman Khan's Mumbai house, Navi Mumbai Police had filed a 1736 page charge sheet in the MCOCA court. It contains the names of 9 accused including Lawrence Bishnoi. Out of these, 5 have been arrested. Lawrence is already in jail in other cases, while the other accused are in police custody.

Salman Khan's statement is also recorded in the chargesheet. He had said, 'I and my family are being falsely targeted. I have not done anything wrong. All these things are being done to extort money from me.' He also mentioned the threats he had received earlier. The investigation found that the firing at Salman Khan's house was not done with the intention of murder. The accused wanted to threaten him. However, the investigation also revealed that some members of Lawrence gang were keeping an eye on Salman Khan to kill him. They had tried to get weapons from Pakistan for the murder.

Let us tell you that on 14th April at around 5 am, 2 bikers fired 4 rounds in Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartment. Salman was present in the house when the firing took place. The first arrest in the case was made on 15th April. The police arrested 2 accused. After this, the accused who provided the weapons were arrested on 24th April. Till 27th April, 6 arrests were made in the case, on whom MCOCA sections were imposed. After being charged under MCOCA, on 1st May, one of the 6 accused, Anuj Thapan, committed suicide in police custody.

What is MCOCA?

The Maharashtra government enacted MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) in 1999. Its purpose was to end organised and underworld crime. This law is applicable in Maharashtra and Delhi.

After MCOCA is imposed, the accused do not get bail easily. Under MCOCA, the police gets 180 days to file a charge sheet, whereas under the provisions of IPC, this time limit is only 60 to 90 days. Under MCOCA, the police remand of the accused can be up to 30 days, whereas under IPC it is a maximum of 15 days.

After the firing, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde met Salman Khan.
