Brijbhushan Singh's Troubles Rise; Charges fixed by Delhi District Court in sexual harassment case









New Delhi; News Agency: Former President of the Wrestling Federation of India and BJP MP Brijbhushan Singh's problems have increased as the Delhi's Rouse Avenue District Court has framed the charges against him in the ongoing case of sexual harassment. The top wrestlers of the country had started a movement against Singh for the last year.

The court framed charges against Brijbhushan under Sections 354 (molestation), 354A (sexual abuse), 354D (stalking) and 506 (threatening) of the IPC. Charges under Sections 109 (incitement to commit crime) and 506 (threatening) of the IPC have been framed against Singh's associate Vinod Tomar. Tomar is a former Assistant Secretary of the Wrestling Federation.
Brijbhushan Singh was the President of Indian Wrestling Federation for a long time. It was first reported last year that he had sexually harassed female wrestlers during this period. In this case international wrestlers like Vinesh, Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, Satyavrat Kadrian chose the path of agitation. A protest was held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for several days. Apart from this, Malla had also returned his awards. Sakshi had retired from wrestling. On June 15, 2023, the New Delhi Police had registered a case against Brijbhushan, as promised by Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. A total of six women had accused him. A case was registered under 'POCSO' as it involved a minor girl; But later the 'POCSO' clause was removed as the girl recanted. The wrestlers who fought against Singh expressed their happiness after the charges against former president of the Wrestling Federation of India Brijbhushan Singh were confirmed in the court.
