Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for the seventh consecutive time on Tuesday. Bollywood celebs are disappointed as there was no announcement for the entertainment industry in it. It was believed that the government could reduce the entertainment tax this time but there was no change in it.

Talking to Dainik Bhaskar, former Censor Board chairman and film producer Pahlaj Nihalani said that GST on movie tickets should have been abolished but it did not happen.

Before becoming the Censor Board chairman, Pahlaj Nihalani was a producer. He had invested in films like 'Aankhen' and 'Shola Aur Shabnam'.

Pahlaj Nihalani said, there is no tax on entertainment in many countries, so GST should be completely removed from the entertainment industry in India as well. The government should think about promoting efforts to make as many films as possible to save our culture and language.

Because of the kind of business that is happening these days, films on good subjects are not being made and to make money, it has become necessary to make films on light subjects and vulgar content.

Nihalani further said, films are made for the common man. Even the smallest labourer watches films. If film tickets become cheaper and there is no tax on them, then single screen cinema will get a boost.

Let us know what other people associated with the film industry said about the budget…

The entertainment industry is always overlooked: Shabbir Boxwala

Shabbir Boxwala, who has produced films like Sher Shah, Mission Istanbul and Loot, said that the budget is only for the poor, the entertainment industry is always ignored. It seems that the budget always focuses on the poor, there is no focus on the rich, whereas they are the ones who provide employment to the poor.

The government always overlooks the entertainment industry, whereas a producer provides employment to more than 300 families through a film. How is the government able to provide employment on such a large scale? The way the film is running at the box office, the situation is very bad, theatres have been closed, in such a situation the government should have helped.

Sunil Darshan has produced films like Mela, Andaz, Jaanwar, Lootere.
